The Värm is an extremely flexible design platform that can be configured to look like a classic colonial, country farmhouse, basic barn, or even a clean modernist home.

The Värm takes full advantage of our integrated building components. The platform easily accommodates—or you can add-on later—connected porches, garages, sunscreen overhangs, or even a hip roof. It’s an excellent choice for owners who need a home office, or for larger families in which being able to have separate living areas (and a little peace and quiet once in a while…) can be essential.

The design also works well at various lengths, and the full-height second story maximizes living space, which is particularly helpful when your building site is limited. At the same time, Värms offer plenty of roof area so you can easily achieve Net-Zero energy requirements with photovoltaics.

Unity’s platforms are at the heart of the design system that we have developed to streamline the design and planning process for building a new home. The system also includes an extensive library of pre-designed components that can be used to configure the platforms to suit specific needs, sites and budgets. Because each client is unique and every building site is different, no two Unity homes are the same.

The plans below embody tried-and-true configurations that we have found work well on a variety of sites. For many clients who are interested in the Värm, these plans will require very little personalization to fit their needs, resulting in a process that is simple, easy and cost-effective. And if changes to a design are required, they can be made with the options available in our design system. See: A Primer on Unity’s Design System
