Värm Homes

The name Värm comes from Värmland, a province in middle Sweden where Unity founder Tedd Benson has family roots. The tall, simple, gable form of the Värm platform is inspired by homes typically found in the Swedish countryside and has a modern farmhouse feel. The basic footprint of the Värm comes in two sizes: 24′ x 36′, and 20′ x 32′ (the Värm20). With two full stories and options for adding on, the Värm can be configured to meet a wide variety of needs.

At the heart of the Värm is an open kitchen/dining/living area that makes efficient use of the first floor space. Utility areas include an entry space and a half bath adjacent to the stairwell. Värm second floors typically have three bedrooms and one or two baths. One of the most popular add-ons to the core Värm platform is a first floor bedroom suite.

In addition to our standard 24’ wide plan, we also offer a “Skinny Värm” that is 20’ wide, and makes even more efficient use of the space. We’ve also designed Värms that have different “hats”—hipped roofs and single-pitch roofs instead of the traditional gable.

Interiors

The Värm is comfortable being finished in a variety of architectural styles. We’ve designed Värms that look like traditional New England modern farmhouse homes, Värms that have a rustic flair, and Värms that epitomize the “modern barn” aesthetic. But regardless of how it’s dressed up, this platform offers excellent value and Unity’s signature high performance.
